Vanuit Illinios schreef Anne Koopmans Frankel:
Beste Mevrow van Denderen,
My school girl Dutch (1/2 year at age ten) is now pretty much non-existent through lack of practice and it was never very formal. So that's the best I can do. In fact my experience was exactly the inverse of your Wereldschool, I brought my lessons from the US and worked on them in the Montsorrie School of Oestgest (in 1950), while I was a student there.
Please go ahead with your planning for the naming of your Academie (special high school) for our father, Tjalling Koopmans. My sister, Helen Joan Sandoz, my brother Henry Sjoerd Koopmans and I are all in agreement that this would be an appropriate use of his name and background. As you probably already know Tjalling's ancestors were Frisian (we know this of both of his grandparent families) which makes your request doubly special for Friesland. His mother grew up in Sneek and his father in T' Oppenhuizen (...)
I am delighted that Tjalling is being remembered through this progressive and forward looking program, and I think that he would have supported it also.
Best wishes for success in this venture,
Anne Koopmans Frankel.
